How to Solve Sports-Related Skin Problems

A lot of us love watching sports, and a good number of us love to play them, too. Unfortunately, playing sports can stress your skin and body if you’re not careful. Here are some tips for solving some sports-related skin and hygiene issues.

Men’s Face Acne: As you play sports, dirt and debris can block your pores – sweating doesn’t help the matter, either. To stop recurrent acne in its tracks, use an acne lotion for men daily. If your problem is only a pimple or two, try an acne cream for men to target them directly. For more on acne, check out “The Science of Men’s Acne Breakouts.”

Men’s Back Acne: Don’t waste time after your workout – hit the showers. A men’s body wash with tea tree extract and salicylic acid can help unclog pores as well as fight off bacteria you may have picked up at the gym. Also, try wearing looser fitting clothes to the gym (tight clothes can trap sweat and encourage acne breakouts). If you have long hair, keep it off your back and shoulders.  For more tips on fighting back acne, read “8 Ways to Battle Back Acne.“

Men’s Body Odor: Let’s face the facts. If you work out, B.O. is going to happen – unless you use a high-quality men’s deodorant. Choose one that’s fragrance free and targets odor-causing germs instead of one that just masks odor. Better yet, find one without aluminum, which has been linked to certain health issues. And like we said earlier, hit the showers immediately after a workout.

Sunburns: Whether you’re outside playing basketball, tennis or another sport, it’s important to wear sunscreen – nobody wants to look like a tomato. A men’s sunscreen with broad spectrum protection can help keep skin healthy and hydrated. Make sure it’s at least SPF 30, too. In addition, consider a lip balm for men – lips can also get burnt. Athlete’s Foot: This can become an annoying problem fast. It’s typically caused by moisture in your shoe as well as friction. Your best bet is to ensure your feet are as dry and clean as possible. Try using a body wash for men – it contains antibacterial ingredients that can help clean your feet. Also, dry your feet after working out.

Damaged Hair: If you’re an avid swimmer, you need to take extra special care of your hair. Salt water as well as chlorine can damage hair and make it brittle. Rinse your scalp with fresh water before hitting the water – do the same afterward, too. Be sure to use a men’s daily shampoo, too, to protect your hair. A swim cap wouldn’t hurt, either
