The Groom’s Wedding Day Checklist

The big day is finally here! For a bride, there are still countless details to take care of. However, the groom has his own to-do list on this special day. The soon-to-be husband’s list may differ from his future wife’s, but it still contains important last-minute items that can’t be forgotten.

Your attire: Lay everything out the day before the wedding, including all accessories. It’s easy to overlook things when you’re a little nervous or stressed, and organizing your attire a day before will give you a chance to think more clearly than you will the morning of the wedding. Make sure you include at least one new handkerchief with your ensemble, and be ready to give it away to your bride or any other lady attending the wedding who might get a little teary-eyed.

Relax: Take a nice long hot shower the morning of the wedding to help alleviate last-minute nerves and tension. A massage is even better, but if you don’t have time for that, a hot shower will do the trick. Take your time in shaving and any other personal grooming you need to do before the ceremony. Not only will it help you to relax, but you’ll also have confidence in knowing that you look your absolute best for all those wedding photos.

Keep track of the rings: By now, you and your bride have already picked out the perfect rings from the wide variety of women’s and men’s wedding bands. That was the hard part. There was a time not too long ago when men rarely wore wedding rings. Now, most men do wear wedding bands, and the selection available is mind boggling! Many contemporary rings are made of new materials, such as satin finish cobalt chrome – a durable, good-looking material available at a much lower price than most precious metals. Now that you have your rings, all you need to do is make sure that you know where they are at all times. This may sound like a simple task, but if you leave a lot of details until the last minute, you could easily misplace the two most important accessories of the day – the women’s and men’s wedding bands!

Make some introductions: If you haven’t done so already, introduce your best man to the maid of honor and the groomsmen to the bridesmaids they’ll be escorting during the ceremony. Hopefully, you’ve already handled this, but if you haven’t – better late than never! They should at least know each other’s names and be introduced a while before the wedding takes place.

Paying service providers: Make out checks to providers before the ceremony so you don’t have to try to keep track of which ones have and haven’t been paid. It’s more appropriate to put each check into an envelope and address the envelope to the provider ahead of time. That way, you can simply pass out the envelopes immediately after the ceremony.

Remember the license: This is a small detail that can be disastrous if it’s overlooked. Bring the license with you, and make sure that both you and your bride sign the wedding certificate and lock it away in a safe place before you leave for your honeymoon. Better yet, make a copy to take with you and put the original away for safekeeping.

Arrange the transportation: Make sure the car is ready to take you and your new wife to the hotel immediately after the reception.

Anyone who thinks that all the important last minute wedding details are left up to the bride has never been a groom! While you and your wife-to-be most definitely have a different set of tasks to look after, yours are just as important as hers. From paying providers to keeping track of the women and men’s wedding bands, you’ll do plenty to contribute to the success of your wedding day.

Remember, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for you and your bride, so do everything you can to make your special day go smoothly.
