MenScience FAQ

The Microfine Face Scrub does not appear to have many particles. Why is that?

If your Microfine Face Scrub seems to contain fewer scrubbing particles, we recommend you shake it a little or rest it on its side, as some of the lighter particles might have migrated away from the mouth of the tube. This is normal and it’s a result of the consistency of the scrub due to the higher concentration of glycolic acid (glycolic tends to make formulations less gel-like and we have chosen not to add additional thickening agents to compensate). The most important exfoliation is provided by the glycolic acid, plus this product contains three different kinds of scrubbing beads, so even if you don’t feel the larger particles, the microfine particles are providing the exfoliating effect together with the glycolic. Remember the ideal effect should be a subtle exfoliation not a “sanding” effect. A couple of additional points: because of the exfoliating/cleansing effect of the Microfine Face Scrub, you don’t need to use the Daily Face Wash when you use the scrub as this would be excessive exfoliation, and also try massaging the scrub for 1-2 minutes with your fingers for a more thorough exfoliation (a longer exposure will allow the glycolic to work better).
